What's in a greeting?
This self-paced mini course, "What's in a greeting?" with Angie Day explores the profound impact we as educators hold in the formation and development of children's gender identities.
This self-paced mini course will be available for one month.
"What's in a greeting?" Explores the profound impact we as educators hold in the formation and development of children's gender identities. Through research, anecdotal evidence and interviews with children Angie will uncover the unconscious ways that we regularly reinforce, impose and praise "traditional" constructions of gender.
When presented, the research highlights that there is still much work to do, and Angie will present her steps to success (developed in consultation with children) so that we are more informed to make changes and thus, be better teachers tomorrow than we are today.
This presentation is a call to action for us to be more aware of the power of our language, for the sake of children's future beliefs in who they are and what they are capable of. This session runs for 60 minutes and will leave attendees excited to make real life changes to the ways in which they interact with all children in their care.
