Rethinking a cycle of learning - Lets get rid of "the follow up"
Have you ever been told that someone will “follow up and get back to you soon”?
Generally, a follow up involves a single question and answer.
In this comprehensive workshop we will follow a real-life case study to cement the understandings of what a life without traditional follow ups looks like.
How does this translate to a cycle of learning that we are supposed to be providing under element 1.3.1 of the National Quality Standard? ‘Assessment and planning cycle: Each child’s learning and development is assessed or evaluated as part of an ongoing cycle of observation, analysing learning, documentation, planning, implementation and reflection’.
This 60 minute session will discuss the history and future of the ‘follow up’.
- Where did it come from? Is it in the EYLF?
- What will happen in A&R if we don’t use the common practice of observation > follow up? AND most importantly;
- Will my work life be better or worse without it?
(Hint- your work life, workload and the lives of the children you work with will be SO much better)
